The steps below explain how to restore a database. From time to time, backups of your WageEasy database may need to be restored. Backups are saved copies of your company’s data files. They cannot be accessed directly and need to be restored.
There are several reasons why data may need to be restored, i.e., accessing previously archived payroll data, moving the database to another computer, or if the database has been repaired or checked by the WageEasy Support Team.
Before restoring a backup, ensure you have a current (today's) backup of WageEasy. If you do not have a current backup, do not overwrite your existing database.
Open WageEasy.
Go to File, Backup/Restore, click Restore at the bottom left of the screen, and then click the Restore icon.
Under Backup Set will be Restored from, click on the 3 dots (ellipsis) and choose the location of your backup file, and select the *.web File.
In Files to restore, it should display the name of your database, and the Restore location should show the path of the database that you want to restore. Often, this is a network drive when you have multiuser access to WageEasy. Click on the 3 dots (ellipsis) and select the location where you would like to restore the database to.
Select Start.
Once the process has completed, you will receive a message: All file(s) successfully restored. Click OK and then within WageEasy, from File, Open Company select the location where you restored the database to, click on the database file, and Open. Confirm that the data is current by running Payment Summary and/or Employee reports before continuing to use.
