On 2 August 2025, the Australian Government received Royal Assent for changes in the way the Study and Training Support Loan Compulsory Repayments are calculated. These include:
an increase in the threshold
a change in the repayment calculation to a marginal system

The ATO has now updated Schedule 8 - Statement of formulas for calculating study and training support loans components (NAT3536) and the relevant tax tables. Whilst the new formula is effective from 1 July 2025, Employers need to apply the updated formula to withholding tax from payments made on or after 24 September 2025. Any potential overpayments of STSL, from between 1 July and 24 September, will be corrected when the employee completes their Tax Return.
You are now able to download the updated STSL Taxation PDL, which will take effect from any payment made on or after the 24th of September 2025
Before updating your new Tax Tables:
Back up your WageEasy Database from File, Back Up/Restore, Back Up, Select Backup Location, Add Files to Backup, Select Start.
Tax Tables should be updated prior to processing your first pay on or before the 24th of September 2025
Download and save the Tax Tables PDL. to the default Association folder. C:\Users\Public\Documents\Wage Easy Payroll\Association Data\Australia.
To update the Tax Tables in WageEasy follow the steps below:
Go to Setup, Associations, Tax Tables, Edit, Internet tab.
Tick the Tax Tables & Rebates box; all other boxes have to be unticked. Update Now.
On the Update Association Data Wizard screen, Next.
Select the Load from Disk File radio button and click on the ellipses button... go to the location that they were saved to: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Wage Easy Payroll\Association Data\Australia. Select the Tax Tables_2025-26-09-24_UPDATED.Pdl, Open, Next.
Finish.
Note: The updated version of the latest Tax Table 2025-26-09-24 can be uploaded prior to the 24th of September 2025.
