Ensure that Jury Duty Leave is a leave type in the employee file (Employee Details, Leave); if not, then it should be set up in the employee's award.
Add the Jury Duty leave type to the Award
Go to Setup, Awards, double click the award the employee is attached to, and choose Leave on the left-hand side.
Select Add/Delete Leave, which will open the Leave Type Wizard.
Click Next.
Select Add new leave type, Next.
On the Enter Details of the New Leave Type page, enter the following:
Leave Type: Jury Duty.
Description, type, Jury Duty, and Tab.
Short Description will display the same as Description.
Enter a GL Code if applicable (leave blank if unsure).
Leave Show Leave Total on Employee Pay Slips, and Show Leave Entitlement on Employee Pay Slips unchecked.
Click Next, Next, Next, Finish.
Once the Jury Duty leave type has been created, go to the Payments Tab of Jury Duty and ensure that the Payments can be edited or changed and the Wages Processing box is ticked.
Click on the Close icon to save your changes when it closes the screen.
If you don’t want to see negative entitlements for Jury Duty on leave reports:
Go to the Employee Details, Leave, Jury Duty, and Add.
Enter the date of the first day of the PPE that you wish to pay out the Jury Leave.
In the Adjustment column, enter the number of hours and minutes you wish to be available to your employee for this instance of Jury Duty.
In Comments, enter the reason.
Click OK.
When an entitlement of hours/mins has been added to this leave type, you can process the leave payment as you would any other leave payment, i.e., in Planned Leave or in Wages.
Click Next to the Adjustments screen
Select Leave on the left and Add.
Enter the leave transaction as you would for any other leave, i.e., annual or sick leave.
