Updated over 3 weeks ago

If you would like to pay carers or personal leave and deduct from sick leave, please follow the steps below:

There are 3 steps to complete: Create the Carers/Personal Leave, Amend Sick Leave, and Adjust the Payslip.

Step 1

  1. Go to the Award that needs to be modified, you will need to create a new leave type.

  2. Then Setup, Award.

  3. Select your Award, Edit, Leave, Add/Delete Leave, Next, Add new Leave type, add new Leave Type: In this instance, we will use Carers Leave, Next, Next, Finish.

  4. Select the new Carers Leave, Edit, in the Accruals tab, we will select Block and under Rate(HH.hhhhh): put in 76.0000 for the Accrual Rate, (depending on contact hours per week, in this case it is 38hrs) OK.

  5. On the Payments tab, tick the box Payments can be edited at Wages Processing.

  6. On the Other tab, tick the box under Calculations Include leave payments in superannuation calculations.

  7. Under the Parent tab, you must select Sick Leave under Parent Leave: and also have a tick in Parent Constrains Taken.

  8. After the Carers leave has been set up to be deducted from Sick leave, you need to do the next step of altering the Sick leave configuration.

Note: You will need to repeat the above steps for Personal leave.

Step 2

  1. Select Sick Leave and Edit, and under the Payments tab, tick the following boxes: Do not show this leave type at wages processing, and Adjust hours taken, but do not make payments for this leave type.

  2. Under the Children tab, it should show Carers Leave and Personal Leave, Close.

Step 3

After the completion of setting up Carers leave, you will now need to go to the Payslip configuration and remove all ticks from Carers and Personal leave, and make sure that Sick Leave is ticked.

  1. Go to File, Company Details, Preferences, and select Payslips, Payslip Options.

  2. Scroll down to Show these Leave Accruals and tick Sick Leave, untick Personal and Carers.

  3. Close
