Leave doesn't forecast in WageEasy ESS

When applying for leave in advance ESS indicates the employee will have insufficient leave.

Updated over a month ago

Employees attached to leave classes that are set up in WageEasy with an Hourly Calculation Method won't be able to forecast leave in ESS. This is because ESS can't anticipate future work hours.

When an employee applies for leave, the application will be based on their current balance, not a forecast balance. They may receive a warning about not having enough leave for an application if the application hours are greater than their current balance.

If you want to allow your employees to apply for leave in excess of the balance available in ESS:

  1. Go to Settings, Leave.

  2. Edit the leave you want to allow this for.

  3. Tick: Allow insufficient balance. Ticking this option will allow a user to apply for that leave type when they don't have enough leave. This may mean that an employee will have a negative balance.

  4. Click Save.

If Display Balance is unticked, then the Leave Type won't show on the employee's record, and changing Allow insufficient balance will not be an option.

Note: When Allow insufficient balance is ticked, there is no option to limit how big the negative balance can be, e.g., 2 days. Once the field is ticked, the employees can apply for leave in excess of their entitlement. If there is a limit to be considered, then the approver should review the balance before approving the application.
