Process a termination after completing the wages cycle

I have finished the wages and now need to terminate an employee.

If you have already processed pays for a PPE date and then get notified that you need to terminate an employee and pay out leave, you can create an alternate pay cycle for the termination.

Note: You cannot do the termination through a supplementary pay slip, as supplementary pay slips don't have a termination wizard.

Setting up an alternate pay period that is outside your normal cycle to process only terminations, i.e. if your normal PPE day is a Sunday then you can set up an alternate pay period that ends on a Wednesday and change the employee (who you want to terminate) to this pay cycle and process only the termination.

To set up a Termination PPE date:

  1. In Setup, Preferences, Configuration, Pay Periods, Add a new pay period.

  2. Description: Enter something meaningful, i.e., Terminations.

  3. Frequency: set to whatever frequency this employee is currently on, i.e., Weekly, Fortnightly, or Monthly.

  4. PPE: select the date you will be paying this employee, i.e. if your PPE is usually on a Sunday and you want to do this employee's termination on a Wednesday, choose the Wednesday's date.

  5. Select OK.

Note: This frequency can be used in future to process any additional payments or terminations as required, just change the PPE date to suit.

Within the employee file, you need to go to Employment, Employment in Description change the employee onto the newly created Termination.
