Within WageEasy Payroll there is a feature called the New Employee Wizard that will assist with the process of adding in new Employees.
Additional information for New Employees
Suggested items to check after completing the Wizard Entry.
Click on the Employee drop down menu and select New Employee Wizard. On the New Employee Wizard screen, in addition to the Employee’s Personal information being entered, the Employee will also need to be attached to Employment items in WageEasy such as Department, Award, Base Pay Rate as well as their nominated Institutions for both Banking and Superannuation. Noting the Items listed, it would be advisable, before proceeding, to check that the relevant Employment items have been entered into their respective Set Up Lists. Select Next.
Enter the employee’s Personal Information, Next.
Allocate an Employee Number, Next.
If you have set up Auto-generate Employee Number in Setup, Preferences, Configuration, Employee No, the employee number will automatically create for you. Alternatively, by default, when Auto-generate has not been set up, the Employee will be allocated with the next Employee number available. This number can be changed if it does not suit.The next screen is the Employee’s Address/Contact Details which will be required for their ATO Payment Summaries/STP as well as entering their Email address should you wish to email their pay slips to them, Next.
On the Department screen, select the lowest level department. The lowest level is the department with a circle next to it, Next.
On the Employment screen, the Employee’s Date Commenced, Base Pay Rate, Category, Award, Pay Period fields are mandatory, Next.
On the Payment screen, enter the Employee’s Banking details. If they do not have a bank account, please select either cash or cheque, Next.
Enter the information on the Taxation screen, Next.
The "most common" Tax Table items used are:
02 With General Exemption – For those Employees claiming the Tax Free Threshold, and
01 No General Exemption – For those Employees not claiming the Tax Free Threshold indicating this may be their second job, i,e, casual employees.
The above commonly used thresholds also have equivalent STSL (previously knowns as HELP or FS or HELP + FS) options available indicating the Employee may have a STSL (previously known as HELP / HECS or Financial Supplement Debts).The final screen is the Superannuation Fund screen. Enter the Fund Name or select the name from the drop down, if the Member No: is not known, then leave the field blank as this can be edited later, Next.
On the Confirmation screen, select Finish. The employee will now exist in the database.
To enter additional information, open up the Employee Details by selecting the Employee Icon and add in any extra required details.

Remember, the Wizard is designed for speed, to get the minimum information into your system to pay someone quickly.
The following items may be useful to add after completing the New Employee Wizard:
In General:
Address/Phone, Add extra phone numbers and/or Postal address if necessary.
E-mail/Internet address (personal and company and set pay slip delivery).
International, Add visa conditions.
Next of Kin
Reminders, An Employee Reminder for missing details etc.
In Employment:
Employment, add in a location if you have interstate workers with specific public holidays that apply.
Review Dates, Add Salary Review or other Review dates.
Documents, Add documents.
Security, Add a password for Payslips.
In Career:
Licences, Add any special Licenses that the Employee has.
Performance, Add Performance Review – 3 months.
Positions, Add to develop a position tree and setup aspirations for succession planning.
Quals/Skills, Any special Qualifications or Skills the Employee holds.
Training, Add Training Courses.
In Organisation:
Card, Any Company Cards issued.
Medical, Any Medical conditions to be aware of.
Property, Any Company Property Issued.
Vehicles, A Company Vehicle issued.
In Payments:
Superannuation, Extra Super Contributions, i.e. salary sacrifice.
Tax, Extra Tax if they have requested (enter in Adjustment) or enter in a Secondary Tax table, STSL (Previously HELP/HECS) to show STSL separately,
To change the Tax Table, click on drop down box for Tax Table and select the applicable Tax Table
Additional requirements for TFN Declaration, i.e. TFN Declaration Signed by employee and Date Signed, these are required for TFN Declaration submission via STP.
Allowance, i.e. Uniform Allowance or other Allowance/Deduction items.
Union, Add Union Fees.
Banking, Extra bank accounts (bank splits).
